When I was a child, I loved to play with my neighbors. Whenever they asked me to play with them, I followed them without a thought.
One day, I was playing with my friends when a teenage girl beckoned me to follow her. Curious, I left my friend and followed her into the thick woods. I never went to this part of my area, since you could easily get lost if you weren’t familiar with the path. We took a few turns and I saw a house in the distance. I also noticed 5 men gambling and smoking in front of said house.
The teenage girl took my hand, and walked up to the 5 men then sat down in one of the empty seat. I also sat down next to her, but she didn’t say anything, only looking down at her phone.
Looking back on it, the girl was distracting herself. A few minutes later of me watching the men gamble, I became bored and tugged on the girl’s clothes. I told her that I wanted to leave, but she wouldn’t respond and only looked at her phone.
At that moment, I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach. I stopped bothering the girl and grew uncomfortable as time went by. Then, I saw a man selling taho in the corner of my eyes. Fear was replaced by hunger and I jumped up from my seat and went over to the man. I told him that I would come back after getting money from my mom.
I ran to the path where the girl took me and took a guess. I was lucky to guess correctly and arrived at my house safe and sound. When I look back at this moment, I silently thank the man selling taho because I wouldn’t have had the courage to jump up from my seat if it weren’t for him.
