What is Job Mismatch?
Job mismatch means that the employee or job applicant’s skills, level of education, or domain does not match with the requirements of the job at all. It is also possible that the person is not fit for the workplace.
This happens when there is a shortage of available jobs that will fit the person’s qualifications.
For example, during the last decade, the Philippines had a surplus of nursing graduates. Most were not able to go abroad to find better opportunities, some were not able to pass the board exam, while others have a hard time finding permanent nursing jobs that would pay them. What eventually happened is that these nurses, who had the knowledge and the skill needed for the nursing profession, took off and changed fields by going into the call center industry where.

Another reason for job mismatch could be the person himself. There may be several reasons why he is holding himself back. It may be possible that due to having low self-esteem of confidence, he does not proactively express his desire for a promotion.
It is also possible that health or other personal reasons are holding him back. Maybe he is suited to be a manager out in the field but chose to be a rank-and-file employee confined within the office because his health will be affected.
