Dear 30-year-old Me,

So it’s the year 2040. That’s 18 years from now. I wonder what it is like then. I feel like it’s gonna be a big milestone of your life, turning from the big 2 to the big 3, you know? I hope you don’t feel so scared of this transition though. Everything will be just fine even if it doesn’t seem so at times. But relax, You have me, no matter what. You don’t have to be scared. I won’t abandon you.

I don’t know who you are yet, what your new favorite food is or what your new favorite color is, or whether you are still as stubborn as I am now. But one thing is sure I will be you. And I will be proud of being you. Just the way you are.

Don’t think otherwise. If there are areas you want to improve for you, then do it. I am in support of that, but don’t ever feel like you need to change anything for someone else.

I am not sure where you are in life at the moment, but I sure hope that you are happy. I hope your view about life hasn’t changed in one aspect that you still deeply believe that life is beautiful. I hope nothing that has happened in the last 18 years leading to your big 30 has corrupted your mind to believe otherwise.

If you get distracted along the way by the stress and hassle of life, I hope you find your way back eventually, to that place, you know, a happy place is all I want you to be, regardless of the reasons or circumstances.

I hope at 30, you are still living a life full of love and surrounded by the wonderful people who have come into your life and stayed with you through it all. But if some people come and leave, that’s fine too. None of them owes you anything.

They have their lives to live and let them. There is nothing wrong with people leaving, you just wish them all the best and hope they find happiness. And maybe you can remember this little tip: people come and go. Relax. Breathe.

And yeah, you have a dream, I know that you want to achieve that dream on your 30th birthday. I hope you are there now and celebrating this little personal achievement of your own. But if for some reason, you can’t achieve this dream yet at 30, don’t you dare give up or be upset about it. My dear 30-year-old me, just persevere a little longer, it’s just a matter of time before you achieve it because I have full faith in you. You will get it because that is what you want from a young age. As a little girl, you always dream of that, so with your dedication, that little girl will have her wish fulfilled.

And one last thing, no matter what you are doing now and who you are now, I sure hope you never take anything in your life for granted, your family, friends, blessings, good memories even bad ones, and even challenges, obstacles, and struggles in life. Don’t take them for granted and don’t wish the undesirable circumstances away as they are the reasons why I am you 18 years from now. Go through them all (maybe even with a smile on your face) & grow into someone that I am proud of.
