Even at my gym, I see people who will do one and not the other. I didn’t know the difference so I usually stretched before my workout, but now I stretch after. I made the change after reading the chapter on flexibility and how stretching after your workout, while your muscles are still warm, helps develop flexibility in your muscles and joints. One thing that I thought was really interesting was that flexibility affects the nervous system too. One of the most confusing topics in nutrition over the years has been carbohydrates. I’ve heard two main diets concerning carbs: avoid carbs at all times and moderation is key. I also didn’t know that there were two types of carbs: simple and complex. Knowing this has been extremely beneficial to not only my workouts but also my everyday life.
