Answer the following:
1.What is the role of nervous system in our body?
2.Distinguish Central Nervous System from Peripheral Nervous System.
3.Diffentiate Somatic nervous system and autonomic nervous system.
4. Enumerate the functions of sensory and motor nervous system.
Answer:
- The nervous system plays a role in nearly every aspect of our health and well-being. It guides everyday activities such as waking up; automatic activities such as breathing; and complex processes such as thinking, reading, remembering, and feeling emotions. The nervous system controls: Brain growth and development.
- The central nervous system includes the brain and spinal cord, while the peripheral nervous system includes all of the nerves that branch out from the brain and spinal cord and extend to other parts of the body including muscles and organs.
- The somatic nervous system transmits sensory and motor signals to and from the central nervous system. The autonomic nervous system controls the function of our organs and glands, and can be divided into the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions.
- The Afferent “Sensory” Neuron receives the information of the force of the strike on our tendon. This information is relayed quickly up the neuron to the spinal cord where the Interneuron would decide if the stimulus warrants a response. If a response is necessary the Efferent “Motor” Neuron returns the impulse to the muscle of the legs causing the lower leg to react.
