11-15. I am 24 years old. My age is 2 less than twice my sister’s age. How old is my sister?
16-20. Eric is a biker, he travels at an average span of 15km per hour. How long will it take him to travel
135 km if he continues at this speed?
Answer:
11-15. I am 24 years old. My age is 2 less than twice my sister’s age. How old is my sister?
Let s = sister’s age
Equation will be:
2s – 2 = 24
2s = 24 + 2
2s = 26 (then divide both sides by 2)
s = 13
Hence, her sister’s age is 13
To check, given we find x = 13
2s – 2 = 24
2(13) – 2 = 24
26 – 2 = 24
24 = 24
16-20. Eric is a biker, he travels at an average span of 15km per hour. How long will it take him to travel
135 km if he continues at this speed?
Time = Distance ÷ speed
Time = 135 km ÷ 15kmh
Time = 9 hours
It will take Eric 9 hours to travel 135 km at a speed of 15kmh.
Don’t forget to double check. Hope this helps 🙂
