1. What is the main argument presented in the sample you have chosen? How was it presented?

2. What cons and pros were presented? Enumerate.

3. How did the writer conclude the text?

4. What can you say about the use of language features like modals, evaluative words, and transitional devices in the text? How did these elements contribute to the achievement of the writer’s purpose?​

The question above aims to analyze your reading ability, through the identification and interpretation of an argumentative text. For that reason, I cannot answer this question for you, but I will show you how to answer it.

First, you must know that an argumentative text presents arguments on a certain subject, that is, this text shows the author’s opinions, and these opinions are supported by true data and information.

In this case, as shown in the above question, you should look for this type of text in magazines and newspapers. After that, you can answer the questions as follows:

1. Show the author’s main opinion and how he confirmed that opinion.
2. Show as an author presents the positive points of the subject he is presenting and the negative points.
3. Show how the writer finished the text.
4. Show how the author used techniques within the text and how it was important for the text to be efficient and able to achieve the goals it has.
